Early Computing Video Night with Constant Dullaart

Constant Dullaart will present a selection of video's from only a few decades
ago.
It's a selection from a collection of instructional video's about computers,
the world wide web,
electronic gadgets and art that never made it passed obscurity.
The launch of a new apple Macintosh computer in the eighties, early visions on computer art, renowned artists experimenting with drawing on a computer (Hockney, Warhol) old 3d animations, all of the video's show an amazement with a medium that we have so fast grown accustomed with.
An evening to be able to look back in nostalgia to VHS recordings of digital
futurism.

he is quite hard to describe, this 'Billy!'...
It's a secret coalition of Jan Dek, Space Lady & Harry Merry.
But it's better somehow. Worse.
uRGe isn't any easier. Like Popov with a guitar and keyboards, he writes good
songs. There is something irritating in it.

Sunday Oktober 24 - Concert
Eierfest 2010

live:
U.S Girls
Sheldon Siegel
Ignatz
U.S. GIRLS
Like fellow DIY ingenues Sally Strobelight and Inca Ore, U.S. Girls’ approach
is deceptively ethereal and delightfully haunting; lithe, lysergic gamma rays
of keyboard murk beamed over percussive bonk sort of resemble Diamanda Galás
reinterpreting Suicide’s Red Star. And dig that cover of Bruce Springsteen’s
“Prove It All Night,” done in such an effortless, barbital lush you’d swear
the air was filled with mescaline.
http://www.myspace.com/usgirlsss
Ignatz
George Herriman created Ignatz in 1910. It was a vicious mouse in the comic
Krazy Kat. Ignatz' favourite occupation was throwing bricks at Krazy Kats
head, who thought it was a love declaration from the mouse. The Brussels based
artist Bram Devens uses Ignatz as his alter-ego for his own pile of bricks.
Acoustic songs wrapped with effects and driven by improvisation and spontaneousness.

http://www.ignatz.be/
Sheldon Siegel
There are young, arrogant artists who think they will conquer the world from
their studios in Belgium with their neo-realistic paintings and their hipster
indie rock bands and matching uniforms. There are also other kinds of artists
who translate the contemporary nihilistic climate to sharp pastiche and absurdist
drawings. In that scene old patron saints are violated shamelessly by means
er of free improv. Gino Coomans (cello, music box), Erik Heestermans (drums,
percussion) and Gerard Herman (sax, vocals, tapes) got together in the suburbs
of Antwerp. With a shared love for free jazz and an aversion for taboos the
trio explores the possibilities of combined action. They avoid the easy trap
of maximum instrument volumes, and instead they reticently seek for a universe
in which each musician can take their part at any point, or leave it to another.
It is because of that particular attitude that Sheldon Siegel comes to amazingly
honest instant compositions. Probably one of the most adventurous Belgian
improv groups of the new decennium.

Wednesday September 8
Public Interfacial Gesture Salon

Online artworks are often extremely public in their presentation, but are
almost never viewed in public.
In most cases the logical way to watch an online art work is on a computer
at home, which is often a laptop in bed.
In combination with the nature of interactive works, this suggests a very
intimate viewing experience. To solve this core difference between ex...periencing
works in public or private, we can think of the other medium often experienced
in bed, books. And to collectively experience a book, there are readings at
presentations.
Therefore this salon will engage in collective, public viewing of web based
works moments after they have been put online (live) to be exhibited. Often
these works are only released in private, mostly in the middle of the night,
and are made public with a very simple but very private interfacial gesture.
This event is set to be the opening of works that are exhibited solely online.
To make this interfacial gesture public, to view these works in public, to
release these works in public.
Start 21:00
Premiering works;
(ALL PHYSICALLY PRESENT):
Constant Dullaart
Jon Rafman
Artie Vierkant
Bernhard Garnicnig
+extra to be announced
Break
Chris Collins will present:
Using the online Google Docs Platform, a free web app usually reserved for spreadsheets and flowcharts, six artists (to be announced) from across the globe will collaborate in realtime on a single digital drawing. The progress will be projected on a screen in O Tannenabum, where spectators will be encouraged to purchase (¤5,-) the current state of the piece at any time. This single-edition "snapshot" ? will be printed, packaged and ready to take home by the end of the night.
After 30-45 minutes, the drawing will be deleted, its only remnants the individually-purchased prints.
The clean, crisp lines of the digital will collide with the chaos inherent in collaboration. Production, distribution and exhibition will be compressed into a single moment.

Heavy Metal Karaoke

Arena Rock, Glam Rock, Hair Rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Ballads, Tearjerckers;
the eighties were a great inspiration for all of us, but some people tend
to forget the amazing - yet sometimes aweful music - produced during the Reagan
years. We bring it all back, and you can sing to it as well. We have a lot
of songs in our database, but not everything; if you wanna perform your favorite
song, drop in early, put your name on the list and take us back on memorylane.
Some artists: Iron Maiden, Foreigner, Starship, Metallica, Slayer, Boston
etc. etc.
Afterparty dj's:
THE NEUKOELLN - KOREA KARAOKE FRONT
From the banks of the Han river to the streets of Berlin, The Neukoelln Karaoke
Front brings the best K-pop to the dancefloor. Get in the mood by eating some
overdue Kim-chi and grab a bottle of Korean Hite beer, cause once the beat
drops, no-one stops.

Party zur Eröffnung der Ausstellung "Early Years"
und zum Beginn des Projektes "The Promised City"
27.2.2010
Ort: KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Auguststrasse 69, 10117 Berlin
Künstler: Wojciech Ba³kowski, Yael Bartana, Tania Bruguera, Oskar Dawicki,
Sharon Hayes, Sanja Ivekovic´, Daniel Knorr, KwieKulik, Zbigniew Libera, Anna
Molska, Paulina O?owska, Agnieszka Polska, Joanna Rajkowska, Ahlam Shibli,
Jan Smaga, Anna Zaradny, Artur Z²mijewski.
