Sadly, last weekend Germany (and the world) lost one of it's great political rebels and controversial artists: Cristoph Schlingensief. He died at the age of 49 after a fight of years against longcancer.

The only remaining insight, i.e. that Hitler is but one man among the rest of us, whose possession of power sees him mutate from a human catastrophe to a catastrophe for humanity, leaves critics and audiences baffled.

Im Anschluss an die Eröffnung der Ausstellung "Early Years", die das Entstehen des Museums für Moderne Kunst in Warschau und die einhergehenden künstlerischen, politischen und gesellschaftlichen Diskurse reflektiert, laden KW Institute for Contemporary Art und club transmediale, Berlins einzigartiges Festival für experimentelle Musik, zur Eröffnungsparty mit einer Extraladung unerhörter Ideen. Mit Felix Kubin und The Complainer aka mik.musik.!.-Gründer Wojciech Kucharczyk treten zwei Musiker auf, die nicht nur ihr gemeinsamer Hang zum Absurden, zum musikalisch gleichermassen Abgründigen wie Mitreissenden sowie ihre ideosynkratische Haltung verbindet, sondern auch ein intensiver künstlerischer Austausch und eine langjährige Freundschaft. Passend zu den extraterrestrischen Lichtgeschwindigkeits-Songs des Elektrikentertainers Felix Kubin und der Global-Pop-Tour-de-Force des Complainers, bespielen die O Tannenbaum Djs linkshändig die Klaviatur der Groteske, des grossartig Aus-der-Form-geratenen und des schamlos Populären. Mit untrüglichem Gespür durchwühlen sie die Archive der Popgeschichte und amalgamieren ihre raren Fundstücke zu einer rücksichtslosen Msichung. Dazu zeigt die Trickfilm- und Performance-Künstlerin Mariola Brillowska zeitweise ausgewählte Anmiationen und der polnische Künstler Wojciech Kosma interveniert mit einer Kurzperformance.

Kuratiert von Sebastian Cichocki, Ana Janevski, Katarzyna Karwan´ska und Joanna Mytkowska, präsentiert vom Museum für Moderne Kunst in Warschau.

The 1-day Creative Independents Network Market offers the professionals among our guests (and anyone else who may be interested), the chance to share what they do, swap know-how and make new contacts. It's an opportunity to display your activities and products and, of course, to sell them. It will be an interdisciplinary meeting place that brings together protagonists from the fields of music, technology, media and arts.

The market takes place in the context of CTM.09's new daytime program. Between theory and practical approach – presented in a mix of presentations, lectures, panels, workshops, performances, installations and films – it will turn Kunstraum Kreuzberg / Bethanien into a thematic laboratory and vivid place of experiment, exchange and learning. On the day of the market, performances and presentations by Dutch media lab TAG will sum up the events and debates that have taken place in the festival during the 9 previous days.

The I.C.A.S.-DJ-Team, made up of participants in the Festival Network Encounter International Cities of Advanced Sound (I.C.A.S.), will provide the market soundtrack for the day.

De Nederlander Roman en de Duitse Hanna wonen sinds een paar jaar samen in Berlijn. Roman is zijn vriendin naar Berlijn gevolgd toen ze daar een baan kreeg aangeboden. Samen proberen ze een nieuw leven op te bouwen. Waar Hanna een uitgesproken behoefte heeft aan warmte, bevestiging en bescherming, lijkt Roman zich steeds meer van haar, van zichzelf en van zijn omgeving te vervreemden. Halverwege november bespreken Roman en Hanna hoe ze de kerstdagen zullen doorbrengen. On this event we take a closer look at how culture is based upon sharing, sampling and reusing ideas and artistic works.
The event will start of with the documentary ‘Good Copy Bad Copy’. In the context of recent technological developments, such as ‘peer to peer’ file sharing, Youtube etc, ‘Good Copy Bad Copy’ is stressing the conflict between protecting the right of those who own intellectual property and the right to create.
By means of the work of art-collective ‘Negativland’, we will see how the restrictions of copyright can limit and at the same time fuel the art production. Negativland is known for their re-arrangements of sound and images taken from corporately owned mass culture. With their work they suggest things that were never intended by the copyright owners.
That copying is and has been of great importance to the art practice will be shown in an exhibition with work of contemporary artist like Marc Bijl, Markus Selg, Jan Huijben, Özlem Altin.
Jason Forrest a.k.a. ‘Donna Summer’, will perform his shamelessly mashed up classic rock songs which comes out as born again Fridaynight party hits. Media Decompression Collective Berlin will give a video presentation of their work relating to copyright and give some background information to it.
The rest of the night will be filled with songs in cover version and loads of youtube videos. We hope to see you then.

In Audio Geschichten we take a closer look at the possibilities of story telling.
In the first edition we had Hermann Bohlen, Candie Hank and Komissar Hjuler telling stories in their different ways; live, half live and present as a stuffed doll.
Tonight we present Remco Packbiers & Remco Schuurbiers, Peter Fengler and Markus & Fritz.
Peter Fengler will do a special Skype radioplay, Markus and Fritz will do a live on stage radioplay, and Remco Packbiers & Remco Schuurbiers will do a L.P.(longplay) performance showing their 'Sichtbar Archiv.

http://www.non-threatening.com/ Remco Packbiers & Remco Schuurbiers present their "Sichtbar Archiv", a live and evolutionary installation. The two Remco's unite their personal image and sound archives with 3 monitors, 3 VHSplayers and 3 mono turntables in a specially designed wooden framework. VHS images and record sounds are being contrasted, layered and mixed into a collage. The analogue structure of the installation, the technical operating of the devices and the interaction of the artists do not dissolve into the digital 'perfection', but is instead a substantial part of the installation. "Sichtbar Archiv" transforms two closed systems in a new spontaneous, intuitive and associative form, allowing the public to see one hundred years of images and sounds.

in memory of Stephan Bloth (1931-1987)
Bloth; dandy, loner and conceptual artist/actionist, was a German artist who wrote a large part of his oeuvre in prison. He was arrested in 1981 in Frankfurt, Germany, on suspicion of his involvement in two RAF-assassinations in the 70s and he never left prison again. show 'L'étranger' on Radio Panik announces the rebirth and continuation
of legendary Scottish Dada -- Mama record label DISKONO with a
telephonic "playback" play of DISKONO 017 (*) involving the seven
participants : Scott Haggart, Evol, Felix Kubin, Lary Seven, Charlie
McAlister, Jan Van Den Dobbelsteen plus YOU! (the general public).
European launch with a transcontinental twist.
* DISKONO 017 is a 45rpm 12" conceptual LP by Scott Haggart titled
"1'17" . The A-Side Scott Haggart's original edit is
"psychotopologically derived from a 0.7 millisecond recorded extract of
a DISKONO performance (2000)." Six others created alternate versions
(resulting in seven total variations). Strict adherence was required to
a rule of the versions being 1:17 seconds in duration, so as to absurdly
explore the potentials of this 0.7 millisecond sound.
