PEACOCK & OMA [O Tannenbaum]

///

O Tannenbaum coowner and resident DJ Hamy Caldwell aka SQUEAKY has been active in electronic dance music since the late 90’s. He has been organizing and DJing at Breakcore events in Australia, Acid parties in the Netherlands and mixed events at Occii Amsterdam. Squeaky takes from an eclectic collection of music for his Techno DJ sets ranging from atmospheric slow and raw acidic techno to deep and hypnotic techno jams. Music from labels like Bio Rhythm, TTT, Mathematiques, Clone and Atlantik Wall will certainly be heard.

///

Olle Holmberg and Inon Peres team up for EASY TIME. Inon Peres is famously mastering an incredible relaxed but rich, complex and suspenseful drone sound coming from his Wizard Ashdod project. He is founder and owner of the Full Body Massage label that specializes in experimental music, focusing on the relationship between sound and the body absorbing it. Olle Holmberg began working under his Moon Wheel (Where to now? / Not Not Fun) moniker after moving to Berlin, creating cerebral, shapeshifting compositions inspired by “nature, history, and wandering” that have garnered him praise as a producer with a “subtle knack for building a mood.”

///

Manuel Carvalho aka MANTA (Where to Now?) who lives and works in Berlin creates a sound realm where radiophonic interstellar explorations collide head on with a smooth yet brutalist Techno vision. Thematically Manta takes his influence largely from J.G. Ballard and Italo Calvino, and does little to hide this admiration. Musically Etra’s influence is derived from three interconnecting stems, creating a dizzy dance where Detroit giants such as Drexciya and Terrence Dixon mingle with Pole and Basic Channel under the all encompassing squashed funk gaze of Moodymann.

///

Koen Nutters aka MFK (Analogue Mutations) build quite a reputation for having a fine nose and love for raw, minimalistic, subtle and deep bass music. Not talking about minimal techno here. His love goes from UK Bass to Jersey beat, it goes from labels like Bunker to L.I.E.S to acido, and from Detroit to leftfield to acid to electro. But a mix by MFK sounds like a mix that can only come from MFK. Highly recommended. You can find MFK’S radio show on Berlin Community Radio and Red Light Radio. Besides that Koen Nutters is a standing bass player in the Pitch, the New Silence and Konzert Minimal, and is and was part of many other musical projects.

///

David Rank aka SONOFDISTANTEARTH (Lobster Theremin, Tresen, live) produces a raw and textured blend of techno drawing from the epic melodic techno of US artists such as Levon Vincent whilst evoking the deskcrushing saturation of the very same East Coast noisetechno scene. From proper warehouse jams for serious heads, thundering drum loops washed over by highrise pads and twinkling, crystal melodies, to boneshaking lowend and clattering, roughup hats crashes through walls of arpedtohell synthwarmth. You better check it out yourself. Very excited to have David on stage tonight!

///

O Tannenbaum founders and resident DJ’s Pieter Kock (Peacock / Jerome) and Olivier Maarschalk (OMA / OMA Richie) aka PEACOCK & OMA have been DJing techno together since around 1996. Part of the techno sound systems Wirwar and Terra X in the Netherlands, they share a love for the Den Haag sound, Chicago House, UK Bass, Leftfield House and Detroit Techno and Electro from labels like FXHE, Reduction, TTT, L.I.E.S, Chiwax, Metroplex and more. Both Maarschalk and Kock are active in other musical projects as well, and have a broad range of musical taste, in both their DJ sets and their live acts. OMA produces a subtle, deep techno music with his project OMA Richie and Peacock produces a broad range of techno / dream club and juke as Jerome.

AS LONGITUDE

As Longitude are Berlin based sound explorers Laura ODL and Eva Geist. They started to record electronic sessions on the wave of fresh and prolific inspiration. The output is a unique raw experimental acid, spatial techno, bubbling soundscapes and fuzzy rhythms.

PILGRIM AGE by HIAS health in the arts

The New Silence

An assumed equation of the empowered self in the age of raised consciousness. Inspired by personal tendencies we address the trend of pursuing the call of one's soul.

The evoked intention to share out a personal pilgrimage aims to provide a format of re-access.

Mezmerizing video art, poetry, soundworks, writing, installation and performances are exteriorising inner findings whilst sharing its path there.
10 insights into personal experiences and mental journeys are brought together in a quest of subjective and entagling transmission.

Anatums Abode is a project space in london limehouse and the headquarter of HIAS health in the arts initative,where we experiment with settings for togetherness.

PILGRIM AGE was part of an OPEN LECTURE in 2013.

-------------------------------------------------------------

On the 25th Koen Nutters and Jason Grier (http:// hemarchiv.limitedrun.com/) will take over from 23h00.
On the 26th The New Silence (Koen Nutters, Johnny Chang & Morton Olson) will be heard silently during the Pilgrim Age program.

-------------------------------------------------------------

For CTM Vorspiel at O Tannenbaum in the evenings of 25 & 26th of january, HIAS presents PILGRIM AGE, a format for sharing experiences. Co-absorption in multimedia of journeys deriving from the subconscious call to be moving and seeking.
At ones own pace in its own time.

Lee Fukke - Homage to Cornwall's pilgrim path (Video)

It is argued that the shapeshifting psychedelic colouring of the images represent a mood synced reflection of the energetic sphere. Locations of mystical heritage pronounce its remainings through the lens of lee fukke who has spent days wild camping while being on a journey in cornwall visiting sacred sites including the merry maidens, the madron wishing well and men-an-tol

Encounters I May Or May Not Have Had With Peter Berlin
20 min, 2012

Encounters I May Or May Not Have Had With Peter Berlin deals primarily with monumentality, narcissism and the ways in which our heroes are embedded into our identities, and manifested through the body. Through a variety of gestures, the pervasiveness of this practice is highlighted alongside its ultimate, inevitable failure. The viewer moves through various stages of anxiety, idolization and actual touchdown with 70’s gay sex icon Peter Berlin himself, capturing both the apparent and the hidden. The film guides the viewer through the process of making contact with a figure who exists only in his own photographs.

FRANK is a platform run by Liv Bugge and Sille Storihle. It was established in April 2012 to nurture art and critical discourse revolving around gender issues, desire and sexuality. The platform operates in different locations and with various co-curators.

Saturday June 8 - O Tannenbaum at Bei Ruth
Clockwork Orchestra,
Mirror Talk, Sea Urchin
DJ Oscar der Winzige

O Tannenbaum will be organizing a bunch of concerts on different locations throughout the city. This week we will head over to Bei Ruth.

Clockwork Orchestra is the moniker of Dublin based songwriter Paul Mangan. His idiosyncratic brand of melody driven music juxtaposes hyperactive synth riffs, melancholic piano balladry and psychedelic string arrangements together to conjure up a strange land of musical toys and colourful characters.

http://www.clockworkorchestra.com/

Mirror Talk is the solo cold wave, dark pop synth project of Dominic Noé.

http://mirrortalk.bandcamp.com/

Sea Urchin is a project that works with the primal forms of sound and light, starting from a series of stills, excerpts from a video documentary filmed under the sea near the island of Tioman in Malysia. Francesco Cavaliere and Leila Hassan are during their live performance researching the lost reflection, which lies on the deep seabed. Using raw materials and textile surfaces, they transform multiple rays of light into a projection that changes shape organically and constantly. Sea Urchin is a vehicle of investigation that furthers their aim to explore a mirage of forms, as a bridge to an unreachable cosmos, or, equally an unexplored seabed.

Broken Dimanche Press in collaboration with O Tannenbaum are proud to present The Kakofonie 005

A homebrewed publication full of Es

E for Ethanol
E for Europe
E for E numbers

E for the letter E

E is the fifth letter; E=mc²; E is the most commonly used letter in many languages; E is a most beloved letter; there are many Es in George Perec but none in La Disparation; E! is your source for entertainment news, celebrities, celeb news, and celebrity gossip; E as in Eric Zboya although derek beaulieu has four Es in his name; in British sign language E is signed by extending the index finger of the right hand touching the tip of index on the left hand, with all fingers of left hand open; in morse code E looks like ·, e is a mathematical constant and can also be calculated as the sum of the infinite series

A homebrewed publication full of Es. One poem to be unread untouched unseen. One typographical painting full of poems. One poem for those that do not see that cannot be felt. One poem for those who do not feel that cannot be read. A language to be touched are letters to be unseen. A language to be read are letters to be unseen.
And then again the most proper probable answer to this most mundane problem: people buy beer but they don’t buy books.

Urpf Lanze + González & Steenkiste

O Tannenbaum will be organizing a bunch of concerts on different locations throughout the city. The first in this series will be at General Public in Prenzlauer Berg.

URPF LANZE
The Urpf Lanze is the alter ego of Wouter Vanhaelemeesch, who is known as one of the people behind the audioMER and Smeraldina-Rima labels, and as a visual artist with a very distinctive style. The Urpf Lanze brings primitive outsiderfolk from a lonely spacecottage that consists of indecipherable moaning and hollering accompanied by a detuned guitar played on the lap.

GONZALEZ & STEENKISTE
Drawing influences from ethnic and folk music, free and spiritual jazz, psychedelia and minimalism to more contemporary underground acts such as Pelt/Spiral Joy Band, early Hototogisu and Vibracathedral Orchestra, González & Steenkiste embark on sound journeys using a myriad of electric and acoustic instruments where the violin and the harmonium are the main vessels. Belgian (get) high weirdness at it’s finest.
